Luis Enrique comment on why he attacked João Pedro

Paris Saint-Germain manager, Luis Enrique, has explained what went down between him & Chelsea’s João Pedro after Sunday’s Club World Cup final.

The Spanish international was speaking in an interview where he accused the Brazilian of overreacting by hitting the deck. This result clearly didn’t sit well with Luis Enrique.

Chelsea thrashed PSG 3-0, with Cole Palmer netting twice and setting up a third for Pedro, all in the first half, to become the inaugural winners of the new Club World Cup.

What did Enrique say about the bust-up with Pedro?

He remarked:

“What happened at the end of the match was a situation everyone could have avoided. I tried to separate the players; there was a lot of argy-bargy. We all should have stopped the situation from escalating. I’ve no problem speaking my mind.”

PSG’s owner, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, also weighed in on the situation:

“We have the most disciplined and respectful coach in the world. He went to separate them and got shoved. You’ve got to have respect for your coaches, too.”

However, FIFA are yet to release an official statement on the incident, but fans are expecting a punishment for Enrique when the body delivers its verdict.
