Mohamed Salah is reportedly set to exit Liverpool

Liverpool supporters may need to brace themselves for a future without their star forward, Mohamed Salah, following his contract extension at the close of the 2024/25 season.

The “Egyptian King” had been the subject of transfer speculation linking him to a move to Saudi Arabia last season. Despite the club’s management successfully persuading him to sign a new deal, reports suggest Mohamed Salah stay at Anfield will be cut short.

According to an exclusive from Football Transfer on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, Salah will not honor the full length of his new contract. Sources indicate the prolific attacker is set to depart for a Saudi club in 2026.

What did Salah say about Joining Saudi Pro League?

Salah himself has been open about his interest in the Saudi league, discussing it in an interview in May 2025.

He said, “I felt there was a solid chance to move to the Saudi League. I assumed I would go there if I hadn’t extended my contract with the premier league side.” He also confirmed that his ties with people in Saudi Arabia “remain positive and active” and that “serious discussions” about a transfer had taken place.

Salah credited the passionate The Reds fanbase for his decision to stay, noting, “Liverpool fans were a factor in the contract renewal; they pressured the management because I’ve been with the club for seven years. I knew from the start they wanted me to stay.”

Barring any unforeseen developments, Salah’s exit next summer (2026) will mark the end of an era, solidifying his legacy as one of the most celebrated players in Liverpool’s history.
