Arsenal vs Leeds: Preview, Prediction, Team News, Head-2-Head (h2h), Correct Score Prediction, Formation and Current Form

Arsenal aims for a second straight Premier League victory as they host newly-promoted Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners were somewhat fortunate to secure a win in their season opener, a narrow 1–0 victory against Manchester United. A mistake from goalkeeper Altay Bayındır gifted them an early goal, and they managed to hold on for the three points.

Manager Mikel Arteta expects a much-improved attacking performance from his squad, especially in their first home match of the season. All eyes will be on new striker Viktor Gyökeres, who had a quiet debut against Manchester United, but the team will also need more from key players Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard.

Leeds United, meanwhile, will be feeling confident after starting their return to the Premier League with a 1–0 win over Everton, secured by Lukas Nmecha’s late penalty. However, history is not on their side, as they have lost 12 of their last 14 matches against Arsenal. Despite the tough odds, Daniel Farke’s side will be hoping to pull off a major upset.

Arsenal Team News

Kai Havertz injury
Kai Havertz

Arsenal is dealing with its first major injury setback of the season, with Kai Havertz sidelined with a knee injury. The full extent of his injury is still being evaluated, and there are concerns he could be out for some time, which may have prompted Arsenal to pursue another striker.

With Gabriel Jesus also in the treatment room, the starting spot for new signing Viktor Gyökeres is secure, and the Swedish striker will be looking to score his first competitive goal for the club against Leeds.

Manager Mikel Arteta is not expected to make many changes to the lineup that beat Manchester United, though Jurriën Timber could get the start over Ben White at right-back.

In terms of transfers, recent reports suggest that Arsenal has agreed on a deal to sign Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, but the move has not been officially confirmed, so he is not expected to be in the matchday squad.

Leeds UTD Team News

Leeds United’s only major injury concern is midfielder Ethan Ampadu, who is confirmed to be out until after the September international break with a medial collateral ligament (MCL) problem. He will miss at least the next three matches.

In more positive news for Leeds, manager Daniel Farke has indicated that new signings Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin could both make their debuts against Arsenal. While it’s unlikely they will start, they are both in contention for a place on the bench and could feature as substitutes.

Farke is expected to stick with the same lineup that secured the 1-0 victory against Everton, with Ilia Gruev set to replace the injured Ampadu in the midfield.

Leeds United will be without Christian Nørgaard, who missed the win at Old Trafford due to a knock and is still not fit to return.

Arsenal vs Leeds Correct Score Prediction

In the lead-up to the match, Leeds manager Daniel Farke stated his team would not “sell their DNA” by “parking the bus.” He intends to have his squad play with the same bravery they’ve shown so far, which means they will be actively trying to attack.

This aggressive approach from Leeds could play right into Arsenal’s hands. Mikel Arteta’s team has previously struggled to break down teams that sit back with a deep-lying defense. An open, end-to-end game, however, could create the space for Arsenal’s attackers to operate and potentially lead to a high-scoring victory.

Arteta will be looking for a more clinical and expansive offensive display than what they’ve shown recently. Arsenal’s over-reliance on scoring from set pieces has been a hot topic, and the manager will want to see his team create and finish more chances from open play against a Leeds side not known for its defensive stability.

Prediction: Arsenal 1-0 Leeds
