Manchester United has released an official press statement on Lisandro Martinez’s injury, which he suffered during a Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.

United has confirmed that Lisandro Martinez suffered an injury to his cruciate ligament which has probably ruled him out for the rest of the season – 2024/2025. According to The English side, the argentine is currently being assessed, so as to determine the appropriate course of treatment and the timescale for his rehabilitation.

How did Martinez got his injury?

The 27-year-old was injured in the 82nd minute of United’s 2-0 Premier League defeat at Old Trafford on Sunday, February 3, 2025. Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr sent him off on a stretcher after both players collided.

Martinez has suffered a good number of injuries since joining the club from Ajax in July 2022. He had in the past missed the final six weeks of the 2022-23 season with a fractured metatarsal and required corrective surgery in September 2023 that kept him out for four months.

The club already suffering defensive flaws are currently 13th on the EPL table with some important fixtures to go.
