Newcastle United is reportedly interested and open to talks with Brentford forward, Yoane Wissa.
This move comes after the Magpies apparently withdrew their interest in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike, particularly with Liverpool also interested in the player. The Athletic confirmed today, July 17, 2025, that while Newcastle United is pursuing Wissa, formal talks with either Brentford or the player have not yet commenced.
The 28-years-old stood out as the Premier League’s top non-penalty scorer in the 2024/2025 season, netting in 35 appearances. His current contract with Brentford is set to expire in June 2026, though it includes an option for a 12-month extension.

Meanwhile, former Brentford manager, Thomas Frank, credited with Wissa’s development, has since taken the helm at Tottenham Hotspur, bringing three of his staff members with him.
Brentford’s captain, Christian Norgaard, has also departed for Arsenal, while the club’s set-piece coach, Keith Andrews, was appointed as Frank’s successor last month.
